At its very core, AmericasMart is a giant bazaar of vendors and buyers frantically trying to get what they need to thrive for first quarter 2009. Showrooms run the entire gamut, from purely functional to amazingly ornate. From live music to fun drinks and snacks, vendors pull out all the stops to bring new buyers (and members of the Furniture Press) into their showrooms. VISUAL EXCELLENCE HONORED, NEW AND NEWLY EXPANDED CELEBRATED

ATLANTA, January 23, 2009—The first Market of the year brought a fresh start for AmericasMart Atlanta exhibitors as it threw open its doors for the January 2009 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® and Atlanta International Area Rug Market®. More than 70 permanent showrooms celebrated new or newly expanded space with ribbon cutting ceremonies, and in honor of the debut of Building 2 WestWing, AmericasMart hosted ribbon cutting ceremonies for each of the new permanent floors 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Additionally, 35 permanent showrooms and 25 temporary booths were rewarded for their creative visual display efforts, including use of space, product placement, signage, flooring and lighting. The Visual Display Award winners were selected by independent judges with decades of combined industry experience. When reviewing the 3,000 permanent showrooms and 5,000 temporary booths, the judges focused on visual design showcasing product in an artistic and eye-catching display within each category.
