Statton Furniture Going out of Business

I know that this is now old news, but I just got wind that Statton Furniture, one of the most respected American furniture brands, has bowed out of the furniture industry for good. Instead of filing bankruptcy, Statton will be shoring up all obligations, liquidating everything that isn't bolted down, and offering severance packages to all of their employees.

The official public statement splits the blame on overseas manufacturing, the slump in retail sales, and the untimely death of Philip J. Statton. Traditional furniture enthusiasts will treasure their Statton case goods even more with the company's passing. Who knows what kind of price a Statton cherry chest of drawers will command 80 years from now? I can only speculate.
