I stumbled across this new product called Scurtz (its an alternative to a slip cover)at www.scurtz.com and ordered 6 reversible scurtz in black (on one side) and cranberry (on the other). They are velvet and pleated in the center and just tie on the back of a chair. It changed the look of my kitchen instantly. I will use the cranberry side over the holidays this year!

I've never used chair dressings before, but that may have more to do with my clients than my personal tastes. LuLu73, can you see the alternate color from the front of the chair?

You absolutely do not even notice the other side. The skirt wraps around the back legs of the chair and shadows the side not shown. I will say this, the reversible ones (since they are double sided velvet and pleated on both sides) are somewhat heavy and puddle nicely in the back. I don't know about the single sided skirts (thickness) as I have not seen those but they do offer single sided if its a concern. But the reversible was a much better deal. FYI-when I ordered, I was informed that coordinating velvet table runners (also available in reversible) would soon be available! I can NEVER find table runners that I like.

The second color showing was my primary concern. The extra versatility helps my client feel better about investing in a dining set at a higher price point. I have seen similar products that didn't translate well to high end furniture because they were either too low in detail or were poorly created to be double sided and looked tacky. I'll be sure to add a few photos to my idea book.
