One of the other sites that I read is called Apartment Therapy. They have a segment where they display do-it-yourself art. Check it out!

Awesome Spot!

Awesome spot. I have a lot of friends that are involved in some form of screen printing, so I have quite a few custom pieces on canvas in my house . The mixtape thing is kind of seedy, but the "3d" wall art seems in right now.

Hi, Nice art paintings but

Hi,

Nice art paintings but I'm pretty traditional, framed original paintings, mirrors in interesting frames, photos taken by friends etc.

Thomas O'Brien Aero Studios -
There's a relatively new school of thought about mixing traditional pieces with modern items to create a really compelling look. We were in Atlanta at AmericasMart this past January and heard Thomas O'Brien speak about his passion for creating new looks by mixing classical pieces with simple lined modern pieces. Maybe Furniture Decorating will do a piece on Thomas O'Brien to explore his vision. Here's a link to Thomas O'Brien's company called Aero to learn more about him and his design concepts. I thought his presentation and the discussions that followed were very moving.

Interesting

The Link that Gabe posted above is an interesting read. My biggest concern when hanging wall art is paint color. I have a hard time settling on a color, so I'd be afraid to buy into an art scheme without knowing that I was going to be happy with my wall color for a long time.

Awesome art!

While the art has a "homebrew" feeling, it is a refreshing departure from the sconces and cheap picture frames that are so common. Now I just need inspiration for my custom lighting project...
