Entertainment Room Needs Help

I'm a younger guy, and I like inviting friends over to game and watch basketball. The problem I am facing is that this space is embarrassing to look at. I want to get away from the "college apartment" feel but I don't want to compromise functionality either. Please help.

Lose those Verticals!

If you're trying to get away from the college apartment look, then those vertical blinds need to go away! Have the glass on your sliding door tinted or replace it with an outswinging French door to really bring it up a notch. Also, the 4 color couch thing just isn't going to work in a room that small. I'm not sure if that is placeholder furniture or if you are trying to theme off of that element.

It looks comfy

Your room looks like it would be a comfortable spot to hang out, but maybe all the home theater stuff in there makes it seem crowded. Maybe you could give the laptop a different home or conceal the TV when not in use.

Try a sectional?

They save space and look a lot more sophisticated. There are a lot of deal out now, look around.

Suggestions

I kept my walls white but used a custom area rug to add color to the room. That might work for you and still get a funky vibe.

Great Foundation, what about some Color?

Hey Man, I think you have a great foundation there, and I don't know if you are trying to work with what you already have, or if you're thinking about new furniture and accessories altogether. If you are not looking to spend any serious money, you can always find some sleeker, more sophisticated home decorations. Try furniture in more mature colors too, like burnt orange or a deep brown.
